OPEN FORUM

One member of the public was present. It was reported that the road surface at Bickham Hill had been dealt with. The proposed work on the large gate to the play park would be completed by the next meeting. No progress had been made concerning the suggestion of placing a litter bin in the play park. The requested link to the community website was put on hold as the Council’s website was in the process of being updated. The Chairman, responding to a parishioner’s question, stated that the Council’s response to SHDC concerning planning matters cannot always fit in with dates of Council meetings. From time to time decisions have to be made by councillors in between meetings. The Council repeated its decision not to enlarge the vehicular access to the play park field.

MATTERS ARISING

Cllr Gabriel would attend a TAP funding meeting at Diptford. There had been no reply concerning the council’s request to include its minutes in the Diptford Parochial magazine. Action Cllr Bell. Cllr. Bramble, Chairman of South Hams District Council, is to attend our meeting on 1st December. Having received three quotations for the cutting of the grass in the play park, the Chairman accepted the lowest quotation. The situation will be reviewed before April 2016. Councillors Steer and Bell reported on the “Parish and Town Council event” held recently at Follaton House. More information to follow.

REPORTS

Councillor Steer reported that in an otherwise quiet month his work on planning continued at a pace. He has noticed a decline in applications for solar farms and wind turbines. This could be due to the reduced level of subsidy being made available for them. The decision concerning the application for a local wind turbine has gone to appeal.

Councillors Grevatt and Bell reported on the progress being made with the new Council website. Two web domains had been secured for the Council. These contain a ”hold page” which refers those accessing the site on to the existing site. There will be further information ready for our next meeting. Meanwhile some of the links will be removed from the existing website.

Cllr. Grevatt reported that the Community Hall group’s “Apple Pie Fair” would take place in September. There will further publicity at a later date.
