OPEN FORUM

The Council was informed of the voluntary work, clearing leaves and other debris from the gutters at the side of the road, carried out by David Johns of Hill Head farm. The grateful thanks of the Council for this work was noted.

A drainage grating in North Huish was reported to be covered/blocked. Action clerk.

The recent closure of the Ugborough road out of Avonwick for mains water repairs had caused considerable concern for parishioners. In particular the shop was badly affected by this closure which continued far beyond what could be considered to be a reasonable length of time. It was reported that the road was “unofficially” opened by one or more parishioners by the removal of the road closed signs. Action clerk.

The street name sign for Church Walk in Avonwick is reported as being in need of attention. Action clerk.

Concern was raised over the inconsiderate parking of vehicles at the entrance to Church Walk.

The new patches to the surface of the Avonwick – North Huish road were already showing signs of wear. Action clerk.

The surface of the North Huish – Diptford road passing Manor Farm is badly eroded. Action clerk.

PRESENT

Councillors Bell, Gabriel, Grevatt, Hunt, Luscombe, Seager-Berry, District and Parish Councillor Steer and County Councillor Vint.

MINUTES

The MINUTES of the meeting held on 6th December 2016 were confirmed and signed. Proposed Cllr Steer seconded Cllr Seager-Berry.

MATTERS ARISING

Planning.  There had been some delay in obtaining contact details for the owner of the house in Higher Moor. These had now been obtained and contact will be attempted.

The repairs to the park gates will be undertaken by South Hams District Council.

The collection of unofficial notices at the top of the Wrangaton slip road has not been cleared away. Action clerk.

REPORTS

Councillor Vint gave a brief report outlining highways work regarding both buddle holes and potholes. Clerk now has a map detailing the buddle holes within the parish.

Councillor Steer reported on the progress of the Local Authority Controlled Company.

PLANNING

The Council gave its support to a request for an extension and alterations to Penson, Diptford.

CORRESPONDENCE

Specific items of CORRESPONDENCE were noted as follows:

Changes to the distribution of waste collection bags. Action clerk.

Update on the proposed closure of Telephone boxes within the parish. Noted.

HIGHWAYS

Litter was reported on the road from the Avon Inn to the Church in Avonwick. Action clerk.
