Minutes of the NHPC meeting held on 3rd August 2021.

Open Forum

There were no members of the public present.  An alleged illegal building was reported near Barons Hill. Cllr. Smerdon to investigate. A request was made for a bollard to be removed from the Plymouth road leaving Avonwick.

4:   Minutes:

The minutes of the meeting held the on 4th May 2021 were confirmed and signed. Proposed Cllr. Seager-Berry seconded Cllr. Luscombe.

5:  Matters Arising: The 30mph interactive speed sign in Avonwick has been repaired. The North Huish defibrillator is now available for use. The refurbishment of the ‘phone box is near completion. It has had its undercoat and is awaiting work on the electricity supply before receiving its topcoat.

6:    Reports:

The District Councillors report is available on the Parish Website.  Councillors wished to highlight concerns over the rollout of the new recycling scheme. Difficulties with this are being resolved and it is anticipated that the scheme will be fully operational by the end of the year.

Playpark

Cllr Grevatt reported that there were no concerns over the park. The weeds/nettles near the steps have been removed.

Website

Cllr Grevatt reported that it has not yet been necessary to change the website providers. He is monitoring the situation.

7:  Planning:

The Council has been informed that case concerning the Alleged Unauthorised Mobile Home at Butterford Mill has now been closed.

The Council agreed to support:

  • The erection of a mounted solar array at The Rock, Avonwick.
  • Changes to the house at Leigh Side, Avonwick.
  • An extension to the house at Whetcombe Lodge, North Huish.

8:   Correspondence:

 The Council has received information concerning a revised Code of Conduct. It was agreed to discuss this at the next meeting.

Information has also been received concerning the Tour of Britain cycle race which will pass through Avonwick on 6th September. Further details will be provided. At the moment it is known that the road from the 30mph sign at the entrance to the village on the Ugborough road to the junction at the Avon Inn will be made into a temporary clearway. This means that cars will not be permitted to park on the road at that time and that any vehicle parked illegally will be removed.
