Minutes of the virtual NHPC meeting held on 4th August 2020.

1:      Open Forum

There were no members of the public present.  The council was asked to consider granting a wayleave to the Avonwick Tennis Club to enable the club to connect to both electricity and water supplies. This would involve allowing a trench to be dug across the play park. The council agreed  that if it were to grant such permission it would have to be at no cost to the Parish. Cllr Bell agreed to discuss the request with the tennis club and to report his findings back to the council.

County Councillor Hosking and Councillor Steer.

4:      Declarations of Interest

Cllr. Seager-Berry – wayleave request from Avonwick Tennis Club

5:      Minutes

The minutes of the meeting held the on 14th July 2020 were confirmed and signed. Proposed Cllr. Grevatt seconded Cllr. Hunt.

6:      Reports

County Council

County Councillor Hosking reported that the highways defects reported at the July meeting had been passed on to the Highways department. Councillor Hosking had a number of meetings to attend at the same time as this meeting and thought that our meeting would be likely to end before he was able to join us.

District Council

District Councillors Pannell and Smerdon reported that the leisure centres were beginning to open.

7:      Planning

The Council agreed to support the request for a new wall to be built at Avalon in Avonwick subject to the proviso that the outside of the new wall should be built with stone that matches the existing stone.

The Council agreed to pay an invoice of £460.66 for repairs/maintenance to the play park

9:      Mobile ‘phone survey

Cllr. Grevatt would circulate the findings of the survey to councillors before submitting them to the relevant authorities.

10:   North Huish Defibrillator

To be discussed at next meeting.

11: Highways

The clerk was asked to seek clarification from the Highways Department as to whether a decision had been made regarding the future of Pennystone Lane, North Huish. It is rapidly taking on the state of a ‘Green Lane’

The potholes at Langford Barton, reported at the last meeting, have been repaired. The interactive speed sign in Avonwick has been checked by the Highways Department. It was found to be working but councillors report that it is still faulty. Action clerk.
