Further Resources: Avonwick & North Huish Flood Planning

Recent poor weather has led to requests for better flood planning in the parish and the Parish Council have asked for the community’s help to draw up a new Flood Plan for the whole parish to guide responses to future flooding problems related to both the river and surface water.

An initial meeting was held at the Avon Inn on Wednesday 6 March 2025. At the meeting the following were noted as specific areas of concern:

  • Avongrove (between pub and river).
  • Church Cottage, Avonwick
  • Weeks Cottage, Horsebrook
  • Roads at Butterford Mill Gate and surrounding area.
  • Concern for Butterford & Stretchney/Hepburn
  • Hothole Cottages

It is expected that further areas will be identified.

A WhatsApp group has been set up for anyone who has a concern or interest in flooding in the parish. Contact lesley.ring@northhuishparishcouncil.co.uk for details.

Full notes from the meeting are available here.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 4th June 2025, 6.30pm at the Avon Inn. All welcome.
