Draft Minutes for the Parish Council meeting on Tuesday, 2 September 2025

1) Open Forum

  1. An information request has been made to South West Water and a response is still awaited from them regards the Avonwick pumping station. It would be useful if Parishioners can make a record of any sewage coming out of the manhole opposite the Avon Inn or anywhere else in the Parish, photos of this would be good as they will try to deny this.
  2. Parking problems at the junction on Blackhall Lane has occurred again during the summer when a car was moved as a farmer could not gain access.

Minutes of the meeting held Tuesday 1st July 2025.

The above minutes have been circulated and read - Proposed by Cllr Ring and seconded by Cllr Grevatt with all in agreement. Duly signed by the Chairman – Cllr Steer.

6) Matters Arising

  1. North Huish Notice Board – this has now arrived and will be fitted shortly. Sign to put on the top saying North Huish Parish.
  2. Parish Sports & Recreation Plan – The Clerk reported that she had spoken to the Chair of the Tennis Club, he is not in a position to take the lead on this. Cllrs all in agreement – no further action on this matter.
  3. Parish Council Meeting Venue – the Tennis Club as confirmed that there is no plans for extra heating at present. All in agreement to continue to meet at the venue but to take steps to stay warm if needed bringing heaters or hot water bottles.

7) Reports.

  1. County Councillor D Thomas – no report received.
  2. District Councillor G Pannell & D Hancock – report has been received and circulated to Cllrs. Cllr D Hancock confirmed the key points of the report -  LGR Public Consultation 22nd Sep at South Brent Shop 10am until 12.30pm.
    Cllr Hancock also reported that he had been contacted by a Parishioner who had been hit in his van by a car take part in a night time rally, DCC have been informed, but the problem is that the lanes are the national speed limit so not a lot can be done, the police have been informed, and MP Caroline Voaden has been informed.
  3. Play Park - 2 more red handles to be ordered for the play equipment. Boarding around the bottom of the fence to be replaced – some quotes will be sought by Cllr Steer.  Sycamore next to the gate needs trimming and the hedge to be trimmed.
  4. Tree Warden – Cllr Bell reported - works at Woodlea one application has been agreed with another application in tonights planning which he has no objections to.
  5. P3 Co-Ordinator.
    1. Gate on path from Lupridge to Causewell which is an unclassified road – The Clerk to email Nick Colton DCC with a copy to C Cllr D Thomas.  The identity of the landowner who has erected the gate is currently unknown.
  6. Defibrillator all in working order.
  7. Parish Flood Plan – Cllr Ring - meeting tomorrow at the Pub.
