MINUTES
The MINUTES of the meeting held on 3rd October 2017 were confirmed and signed. Proposed Cllr Bell, seconded Cllr Steer.
MATTERS ARISING
The Work on the Buddle Hole at Lupridge has been completed. The unofficial signs at the top of the Wrangaton slip road have been removed. Clerk to thank the locality officer for his work in achieving this. The council was informed of the recent decision not to go ahead with the One Council proposal.
REPORTS
County Councillor Hosking reported that the grit bins at the side of roads would not be filled as a matter of course. Parishioners are asked to inform the Highways Department should a local bin need filling. He explained how appointed Road Wardens would be assisted in their work (These are unpaid volunteers who undertake the work of pothole filling and other minor repairs – we do not have any such volunteers in the North Huish Parish) Cllr Hosking brought to the Council the latest Community Project fund availability. He also stated that while our local schools had benefitted from the recent funding formula changes they are still receiving £268 less per child than that received on average nationally.
District Councillor Steer gave the Council further information regarding the One Council proposal. South Hams District Council had expected the proposal to be accepted and were rather surprised when it was rejected by the West Devon Council. He said that the proposal will not be resurrected at a later date. South Hams will continue to work co-operatively with West Devon though some further proposals for such work are on hold at present. Cllr Steer reported on planning developments and mentioned that applications for the next phase of the Sherford development were in the pipeline.
PLANNING
The Council gave its support to an application for a barn conversion at Coombe Norris.
